Please feel free to use this letter as a reference for your clients. I have consulted you for several years for renovation and repair work on the Bank’s property portfolio. These projects have included painting, window and door replacement, kitchen renovation, roof inspections and roof repairs on both residential and commercial buildings. In addition, for many years the Bank has funded new construction projects where you were the general contractor, and we have always found you to be diligent on behalf of our borrowers and cooperative with our staff. Finally, you constructed three beautiful banking branches for the bank in the period between 1997 and 2007. These projects were noteworthy for steady progress and a great finished result. All three of those buildings are still a pleasure to see.
I have always been impressed by your determination to ensure that all the work done by yourself and subcontractors be performed to the highest order of craftsmanship.
I think what I appreciate most has been our easy working relationship. You are always ready to examine a project and are prompt to get me an estimate. I am much indebted to you for good advice and for keeping our property projects cost-effective and within budget. Your consideration and expertise are a valuable asset in our property portfolio management.

Horsey Construction has handled two large projects at my parents’ house outside of Chestertown.
The first was a free-standing three-car garage with an apartment above it. This was a project initiated by my parents. The apartment consists of a large central living room with a window seat, a small kitchen area, a full bathroom, and two bedrooms. A/C and heating were also installed. My siblings and I have used this many times when visiting the folks. It was well built and has stood the test of time, as it was built approximately 25 years ago.
The second project was a complete re-do of the first floor bathroom in my parents’ house. My mother suffered a stroke in 2005 and now requires 24-hour care. She is still living at home, which required gutting and enlarging the bathroom to install a handicap-access shower stall and toilet. This work was done by Horsey Construction and Baldwin Electric. As the original bathroom was rather small, at first it was not clear how we could fit the rather large handicap-access shower stall, so we ended up moving a wall a few feet into an adjacent bedroom, which has worked out well. This project was completed about 8 years ago.
Horsey Construction does quality work and we would be happy to use them again if the need arises.
If you are in need of a building contractor for a new home, addition, upgrade or repairs in and around Kent County, Maryland, you can do no better than Horsey Construction.
Horsey Construction has performed numerous jobs for us, including skylight replacements, deck repairs, window replacements, and a complete re-roofing job. In one case, when a wind storm destroyed a portion of the railing around our deck, Gary, knowing we had a big party planned for the deck in four days, showed up immediately and replaced the railing with time to spare.
All of the jobs Horsey Construction has done for us have been completed with the utmost skill and craftsmanship using the best available materials, and at times bringing creative solutions to the problems that develop in a 30+ year old house.
Gary insists on every job being done the right way with no shortcuts or scrimping on materials and the finished product reflects that commitment to excellence.
I wholeheartedly recommend Gary Horsey and Horsey Construction for any building project.
It has been a privilege to have known Gary Horsey of Horsey Construction, LLC for over 40 years, both as a friend and a Building Contractor.
Gary completed several small projects for us to our complete satisfaction. We then needed to build a house and we had a deadline. The home was from a magazine ready-to-build plan with alterations. The house was delivered to us on time and is still in very good condition today, 15 years later. It was a pleasant stress-free experience.
When we began planning for our second, much larger home on the Chester River we had much more detailed plans to follow which required all of Gary’s engineering and construction skills and experience to tackle the project. There were many custom features in the home and despite numerous design changes Gary’s diligence and his attention to detail resulted in our gorgeous home that has been mostly maintenance free for over 12 years.
Gary is honorable and trustworthy and strives for perfection. We highly recommend him for any building project you may encounter.

My wife and I have lived in our home for over thirty years and during that time the house has been updated several times. I have known Gary Horsey for many years, so when we decided to remodel our kitchen, I called Gary. Gary has a great reputation and he is very easy to work with. After I explained that we wanted to remove the island and install a new one, remove a wall to open up the dining room, and replace the tile floor with hardwood, Gary said no problem. I didn’t even bother getting other estimates, because I knew Gary did quality work for a fair price. The crew was considerate and professional and the remodel was completed in a timely manner. The kitchen turned out great. Horsey construction has done several other jobs for us over the years, and I highly recommend them.

Gary Horsey is the best, most honest contractor I have ever known. He is sincere and cares about the quality of the work on his projects. Gary uses only the best quality materials and the workmanship is first class.
He has worked for me on several projects over many years. We generally work time and material that allows him the flexibility to reject poorer quality materials and use as much time as is required to do the job correctly. His bookkeeping records are excellent.
Gary does what he says he is going to do. He returns calls or texts promptly and goes the extra mile to make it right.
On one job in redoing the kitchen, he would not settle for second best. He worked in my office with me for several hours to find the right wine refrigerator. Then he rearranged the kitchen design to put the wine cooler in the correct place. He worked with a color consultant in Annapolis where he constructed new base cabinets and the finishing was done to make the cabinet’s match the 20-year-old ones.
Horsey Construction added an addition to my home on Swan Creek in Rock Hall, MD. The design was by the Architect, Ors Hilfiker who has since passed away. Horsey Construction carried out every detail of the Architect’s intent including a three-story elevator and a special outdoor lift to carry fire wood, oysters and crabs to the elevated deck. He worked in detail to make sure every floor level was within 1/16″ of the elevation of the old construction. Support structure that would normally go under the third-floor beams was incorporated into the structure so that no supports were visible. Gary was able to get the siding manufacture to provide new vinyl siding for the entire house to make the color match at no cost to me.
Gary is civic minded. He restored doors on a historic church at no cost for his labor.
In summary, again, Gary Horsey of Horsey Construction is the best, most honest, most sincere man I have ever known.
